Hydrangea arborescens 'Annabelle' Waking Up

We had a good couple of rainy days and warmer temps, I'm on the lookout for plants trying to wake up. I already spotted the iris and royal candles emerging, so I was excited to see some little green sprouts on the Annabelle hydrangeas.

Annabelle bloom from new wood, meaning you can prune them as much as you want in the Fall or Spring and they'll always bloom in the Summer. In my case, I chopped them all the way down to the ground. When do Annabelle hydrangea wake up in Indiana? I guess right about now!

I know this blog is very pedantic so far, taking photos of little tiny changes like this - but this is my first spring, so now I have a record of when these things came up this year. Next year I can know when to expect them, or compare to see if they come in sooner or later.
